The Kansas City Public Schools Office of Admissions will be closed for business every Wednesday starting on Nov. 11, 2020. This change is being implemented in alignment with KCPS policies and procedures in response to COVID-19. Admissions staff will be still be serving the public from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Mondays-Tuesdays and Thursdays-Fridays. Admissions Office COVID-19 Safety Procedures:

  • Masks are required to enter the building
  • Families are limited to 2 people
  • 6ft physical distancing
  • All visitors will must sign-in
  • We are asking no children under 12 years old
  • Enrollment will be done online at a KCPS kiosk
  • Enrollment kiosks are santized after each use

Please be sure to login with the email or phone number used in the first/previous account established to create applications and communicate the status of your applications. If you create an additional parent account and attempt to apply for a student that is already listed under another/previous parent account, the system will not let you proceed with that application. You will receive a message telling you that the student already exists within the system. If your student currently attends a KCPS school or has ever attended a KCPS school, you will need your student ID number. If you do not have your student ID, call the help desk at 816.418.7888.

· You may submit applications for all students for which you are a legal guardian.
· You are not required to submit more than one choice.
· Please submit placement requests only to schools you are willing to send your child to attend.


Required documents to enroll in Kindergarten – 12th Grade:
(Kindergarten must be 5 years old by August 31, 2020)

  1. Birth Certificate
  2. Student's current immunization record
  3. Parent/guardian photo ID (Proof of guardianship, if required)
  4. Previous school records – transcript, behavior, attendance (Signature Schools Only)
  5. Two proofs of residency (See “Acceptable Proofs of Residency” list below)

Required documents to enroll for Pre-Kindergarten:
(Pre-K 3 must be 3 years old by July 31, 2020, Pre-K 4 must be 4 years old by August 31, 2020)

  1. Student's verification of birth (Birth Certificate)
  2. Student's current immunization record
  3. Parent/guardian photo ID (Proof of guardianship, if required)
  4. Two proofs of residency.
  5. Proof of household income:
· Two current pay stubs
· Current TANF award letter
· Current SSI verification
· Unemployment letter
· Current 1040A tax form with W-2's, (employer letter on company letterhead, notarized letter from employer)
· Child support letter

  • Current utility bill: electric, water or gas. (Disconnect or shutoff notices will not be accepted. Bills must be within the last 30 days)
  • Valid Property Deed
  • Current Real Estate Tax Receipt
  • Mortgage Statement/Bill
  • Signed Residential Lease Agreement
  • *Residency Affidavit – Must be notarized (Click here to download)


  • Personal Property Tax Receipt (Past year)
  • Homeowner’s/Rental Insurance Policy (Current year)
  • Social Services, Social Security Statement, or Other Legal/Court Documents (TANF, SNAP letter)
  • Pay stub/ Pay check (within 30 days)
  • Bank statement (within 30 days)

*Residency Affidavit – Must be notarized (Click here to download) or get a copy at the Office of Admissions 2901 Troost Ave.). If you provide a residency affidavit the Head of Household must provide one item from the Proof of Residency #1 list AND the parent/guardian must provide one item from the proof of residency #2 list in their own name.

Head Start – If you applied for a Head Start program, a Family Advocate will contact you to schedule an eligibility interview.
