Welcome to the Kansas City Public Schools 2019-20 School Year Online Application



Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at 6:30 a.m. - Applications open for Signature, Neighborhood, and Pre-School (grades Pre-K - 12).

February 15, 2019 - Deadline to submit Signature School applications

March 15, 2019 – School acceptance notifications will be emailed.


If you have already created a parent account, started an application, or would like to apply for another program, you can login to your account using the form below. You may also enroll using the computer kiosks at the KCPS Office of Admissions 2901 Troost Ave.

Hours for the Office of Admissions:
Tuesday, December 4th from 6:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Monday - Friday: December 5-7 from 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Monday - Friday: Dec. 10-21 from 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Please be sure to login in with the email or phone number used in the first/previous account established to create applications and communicate the status of your applications. If you create an additional parent account and attempt to apply for a student that is already listed under another/previous parent account, the system will not let you proceed with that application. You will receive a message telling you that the student already exists within the system. If your student is a currently attends a KCPS school or has ever attended a KCPS school, you will need your student ID number. If you do not have your student ID, call the help desk 816.418.7888.

· You may submit applications for all students for which you are a legal guardian.
· You are not required to submit more than one choice.
· Please submit placement requests only to schools you are willing to send your child to attend.

HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO ENROLL

Required documents to enroll in Kindergarten – 12th Grade:

(Kindergarten must be 5 years old by August 31, 2019)
  1. Birth Certificate
  2. Student's current immunization record
  3. Parent/guardian photo ID (Proof of guardianship, if required)
  4. Previous school records – transcript, behavior, attendance (Signature Schools Only)
  5. Two proofs of residency (See “Acceptable Proofs of Residency” list below)


Required documents to enroll for Pre-Kindergarten:
(Pre-Kindergarten must be 3 years old by August 31, 2019)

  1. Student's verification of birth (Birth Certificate)
  2. Student's current immunization record
  3. Parent/guardian photo ID (Proof of guardianship, if required)
  4. Two proofs of residency.
  5. Proof of household income:
  • Two current pay stubs
  • Current TANF award letter
  • Current SSI verification
  • Unemployment letter
  • Current 1040A tax form with W-2's, (employer letter on company letterhead, notarized letter from employer)
  • Child support letter


TWO ACCEPTABLE PROOFS OF RESIDENCY (one from each column)

PROOF OF RESIDENCE #1

  • Valid Property Deed
  • Current Real Estate Tax Receipt
  • Mortgage Statement/Bill
  • Signed Residential Lease Agreement
  • *Residency Affidavit – Must be notarized (Click here to download)

PROOF OF RESIDENCE #2

  • Current utility bill: electric, water or gas. (Disconnect or shutoff notices will not be accepted. Bills must be within the last 30 days)
  • Personal Property Tax Receipt (Past year)
  • Homeowner’s/Rental Insurance Policy (Current year)
  • Social Services, Social Security Statement, or Other Legal/Court Documents (TANF, SNAP letter)
  • Pay stub/ Pay check (within 30 days)
  • Bank statement (within 30 days)
*Residency Affidavit – Must be notarized (Click here to download) or get a copy at the Office of Admissions 2901 Troost Ave.). If you provide a residency affidavit the Head of Household must provide one item from the Proof of Residency #1 list AND the parent/guardian must provide one item from the proof of residency #2 list in their own name.

INVALID INFORMATION
If you upload wrong/invalid info, this will make their application "invalid" and will lose their original place in the "application line". Notification of invalid information will be sent by email within 5 days of receipt of application. Once all valid information is submitted a new time/date stamp will be given.

Head Start – If you applied for a Head Start program, a Family Advocate will contact you to schedule an eligibility interview.

*Note - Some Signature Schools may require an interview, testing or an audition. If required, you will be contacted directly by the school to set an appointment for the assessment/interview.
